Q150: A Children's Gallery

The project, Q150: A Children's Gallery is designed to involve students in recording the history of their own home district. When brought together, each school's contribution will create an original grassroots history of Queensland's statehood.

The project is, above all, an exciting and motivating way to involve students in using ICT in an authentic way - and will encourage heightened interest in the world around them. The learning opportunities for teachers, students and communities are vast.

The instructions to set up your school's home page can be downloaded. In the following list, open the gallery for the imaginary Sandpit School and "play" with the years and file uploads.

To access the Sandpit school where you can try out the Q150 Gallery, please login to the site and then go to The Sandpit School.

Registered schools will have spaces for entries for each of Queensland's 150 years of statehood. There are a number of rich learning opportunities and a chance to use ICT in meaningful ways.

The galleries will be built between June 6, 2008 and June 5, 2009. On June 6, 2009, the pages will become open to the world and commentary will be invited from interested visitors. A Google search engine will be added to provide greater use of completed database.

The oz-Teachernet reserves the right to remove (1) images or other digitised items which are found to be in breach of copyright provisions; and, (2) any text or image which demeans any individual or cultural group. The onus for authenticity rests with the school posting information about people and events. All efforts will be made to ensure that Q150: A Children's Gallery is a fair and accurate representation of Queensland's history of statehood.
