oz-Teachernet Projects
The oz-Teachernet was one of the first to make online curriculum projects available to teachers and classrooms across the world. Our projects are often managed by teachers and enact the oz-teacher motto of Teachers helping teachers.
Participation in oz-teacher projects is free. Funding is from the oz-teacher group but, in future, some will be made possible through generous sponsorship. Meet our current project coordinators.
Our current projects include:
- Q150: A Children's Gallery, a purpose-built project to help celebrate Queensland's 150th birthday in 2009.
- Travel Buddies - where cuddly critters come to visit... and send "home" souvenirs of their stay. These can be run at any time and are usually 1:1 exchanges.
- Book Raps - where books are discussed in response to teacher-led "rap" points. These can begin at any time but need a published starting point and a schedule of interaction over 4-6 weeks.
- Land Yachts - where kids in different places around the world build small wind-powered machines to see how far they can go! These will be scheduled events usually over 6-8 weeks.
- SSLIDE - where kids in country Queensland share and discuss their world. This is part of a 2006-07 ASSISTM project and be replicated for other settings.
- 5D Australia- where kids in after-school settings show what they can do when given the opportunity to do so. This is part of a university project.
An affiliated project we recommend and support is Project Atmosphere Australia which is based on the collaborative study of weather.
We will be announcing some new initiatives through the coming year. We retain details of past projects and make these available to you.
